i used to be alpha geek for a very large (global) insurance company and this is true on soooo many levels. we used to swallow up smaller insurance companies and retro-fit them with this stuff. thats not the scary part, we used to do policies for insured companies information integrity (at the beginning of S-Ox)and that was beyond invasive. this was 3 years ago so im sure its much worse now.

a lot of computer people i know (hardware and software) like to draw similarities between themselves and those in the medical profession because of the involved and perpetual need for education, the long hours, and the thankless attitude the general populance has toward both professions. but doctors tend to get egotistical in their glass towers built on 10 years of formal education, more power to them i say, i been studying what i do for at least 10 years (if not longer) only i got to do it on my own time and didnt have to take out loans equivalent to a small house to get it. but i guess now maybe things are starting to shift. im not saying that a ccie is on the same level as a phd but its always nice when a doctor has to come ask me for help cause he keeps getting blue screens and cant get his mp3's onto his ipod.

One of the things I love most about this country is the open minded image we try to foster. I think the execution is poorly anemic but it's an ideal we should strive for. That said I think the biggest opponent of creativity is old white stock holders. The short-sidedness they approach new technologies with is going to be the main reason why America slips from a position of power. It's ironic how the founders of some of the largest and most affulent corporations in this country appreciated the concept of the long view, but their children abscond of those same ideals in the quest for market price. One of the surest signs of a descending power is short-sidedness. Rome stopped planning for the next age, the Ming dynasty stopped exapnding and now it looks like America is ignoring innovation. I'm not against taxing for services - I agree that SBC and Verizon should charge a premium price for a premium service, my problem is they haven't made the premium service yet. part of me is happy that someone is trying to explain to stubborn scared rich old white men that you can be green and make green and make others green with envy, all while keeping it in the black.

I really try to stay away from posting my opinion on racial topics on the internet. For one, people always assume blogs are permanent etched in stone monuments. (f.y.i: updates arent hard and dont take long) second theres isnt really a clear right/wrong stance/position on any topic where the only differentiation is percentage of coloring. green apples arent better then red ones. calico cats arent better then tabby's, shoot I'm not really sure what the difference red m&m's and brown ones is.

craziness. it makes sense in retrospect;the scanner acts as the needlepoint. the cool thing would be if you could scan the tracks and plot them, couldnt you project more points 'out'? e.g. more channels or tracks? thats still far off but the samples are kinda cool and show potential to save a lot of vinyl gems previously thought lost.
